You Can't Live In The Library
-
While we're entering the holiday season, here's an issue that you may not realize exists or that you may have experienced yourself: college students who are homeless and hungry for the holidays, because they have no place to go when the dorms close. They may get housing assistance for the school year, but when the holidays come around, they may not have a family to return to, or they may not be able to afford the trip home. Or they go to commuter colleges that don't have housing and they can't afford a home for themselves. There are stories of kids living in storage units and relying on food banks for sustenance. You may think this is silly -- can't they just crash on a friend's couch? -- but not everyone can find a place to go, and if they can't, the resources aren't there to help them.
