No Place To Go But Up
-
I suppose it would be a worse start to begin a new job and immediately get fires, but this guy, a former Google employee, took a new job as an IT and building permit technician with a city and it didn't start so well. The city: Marathon, FL. The first day: a week before Hurricane Irma. The result: After one week, he had to evacuate, and the house he was renting was destroyed. Nevertheless, he came back and ended up with a LOT of work, for obvious reasons, just not the ones he thought he'd encounter. Sad additional fact: He decided to move to the Keys after a visit with a friend there, and the friend died in a car crash with a drunk driver shortly after his visit. Poor guy's got multiple reasons NOT to want to be there, but he's sticking with the plan. (Miami Herald)
