I had no idea Panettone is as hard to make as this article says it is. The holiday cake from Italy is apparently really hard to get right, and the slightest variation in the dough will screw it up. In fairness, there are stacks of the things in the supermarket right now. But the harder it is to make something, the better it had better taste. And a good chocolate chip Panettone is pretty spectacular. (New York Times)
