AmEx and MasterCard will no longer require signatures for credit purchases early next year, saying that it's not useful ID anyway. NOW they're doing it? It's NEVER been good ID. And for years, we've been signing on those touchscreens and the signatures don't even remotely look like, you know, signatures. Why they haven't moved more aggressively into using Apple Pay and other biometric phone payment systems, I don't know; it seems like it would speed things up and be more secure. (Business Insider)
