How Loyalty Is Rewarded
-
What's the worst way you've been fired? Longtime WSMV-TV/Nashville news anchor/reporter Demetria Kalodimos went in to work on a story, got a text from the news director telling her to be sure to pick up something important on her desk, and found a termination letter left on her desk. That's what she got after 33 years with the station. Oh, but there's more: She's a witness in someone else's age discrimination case, and the suit enumerates discriminatory things the station did to her (but she's not a plaintiff). And the station denies anything other than that she turned down a contract extension -- which she says was for two weeks so that people would think she'd retired. However they want to spin it, this was handled horribly. And it's too common in the media that dismissals are handled really poorly, isn't it? (The Tennessean)
