You Wouldn't Be So Quick To Take The Employer's Side If It Was YOUR Paycheck
-
The woman who got fired by Yelp for complaining about the low pay online says that a) it destroyed her career but b) she's glad she did it. She was pilloried by conservatives for being a Millennial snowflake, but she really WAS being paid less than a living wage, as were her co-workers, and why SHOULDN'T someone point that out? She ended up practically unemployable -- she's a dishwasher now -- but she has a "somebody had to say something" attitude, which is a positive way of looking at it. Meanwhile, a woman who made fun of her for complaining got Fox News appearances and a TV show deal out of it, so everyone's happy, right? Anyway, the topic here is whether you blow the whistle on workplace wrongdoing or shut up, because you're worried you'll never work again. (New York Post)
