The provocative headline is "Will Millennials Kill Costco?," and that's based on the idea that since Millennials buy online and warehouse stores aren't really big online, Costco and Sam's and BJ's will die off. And a competitor, Boxed, is trying to be Costco for Millennials who don't go to Costco purely because they don't have time or patience to go. Its owner cites laziness -- his own included -- as what drives Millennials. What can Costco et al. do? Delivery, for one thing (I've used Instacart to get stuff from there, expensive but easy). But that means Amazon Prime and Boxed are options, too. (Washington Post)
