Proud To Say That Most Of The People I Bore With My Tweets Are Real
-
The New York Times has a big exposé on something everyone knows is happening: Some people, including celebrities and "influencers," buy fake "followers" on Twitter, to fool people into thinking they're more popular and important than they are. I can understand this -- but not condone it, because it IS cheating -- for "influencers" who are desperate to sell their "influence" to advertisers. And I can understand it for people whose employers demand that they be adept in social media and who are a little panicked about that, but, again, it's cheating. But celebrities? Radio hosts (there are some on the list)? That's pathetic. (New York Times)
