When a thing happens on TV, sometimes people want to know if it could happen in real life, and so there's that show that was on after the Super Bowl on which that character died (I'm trying to avoid spoilers here!) and no, it's extremely unlikely your slow cooker will burn your house down, but that's not the question. No, it's whether smoke inhalation by a relatively healthy 53-year-old man would lead to a fatal heart attack. The expert answer is... well, it COULD, but it's not that likely. Someone that age and that healthy usually would not have a fatal heart attack, but someone less healthy could. So there's your TV Drama Realism Meter reading for today. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
