A $100 Discount Voucher For A Future Flight Is Not Gonna Cut It

Mechanical troubles sent a flight from Miami to Santiago, Chile back to Miami, and the delays were substantial. The plane landed at 12:30 am, was rescheduled twice, eventually for 3:45 pm, and it took a while for the airline to come up with hotel rooms, leaving some passengers sleeping on the terminal floor. This led to what amounted to a passenger revolt with chanting and yelling. I don't have a huge amount of sympathy for the airline -- they should be able to handle this kind of emergency a lot better -- but if there were limited hotel rooms available, what could they have done? I'd like to see them communicate better, myself. (WPLG-TV/Miami)
