One Of The Last Links To Comedy Past

Dead: Marty Allen, at 95. He was one of those "you had to be there" celebrities -- in the '60s, he was inescapable as part of Allen and Rossi. His catchphrase was "Hello Dere." He had that hair. You'd have to be older than 50 to really remember, but for a while there, he (and Allen and Rossi) were household words. They were on TV all the time, they made a movie, they played nightclubs everywhere... and he managed to keep performing until last March and was planning on performing more until a hip fracture on Christmas morning led to failing health. Not a bad career for someone most people lost track of in the early '70s. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
