Safety Costs Extra
-
When air safety experts tell their own families not to fly a certain airline, maybe you should listen, too. That's what "60 Minutes" reported about Allegiant Air, which offers low fares and the kind of safety issues that raise eyebrows. The airline is profitable and it's gotten people where they want to go... so far. But they've been having problems galore, with mechanical problems, aborted takeoffs, emergency descents, air pressure loss, smoke filling cabins, flight attendants screaming, and engine failures in mid-air. And those are from the stuff they reported themselves. They fly older aircraft and there are questions about their maintenance and repairs. Are low, low fares enough for you to tempt fate? (CBS News)
