After the data breach, a lot of people said that was that, they're deleting their Facebook accounts. But how many followed through? Some did, like this guy, who lived to tell the tale, which involved a lot more work to delete the account than he'd anticipated, from the effect on other services through which he used Facebook to sign up (like Spotify) to breaking the addiction. Another woman in the article bailed halfway -- she didn't exactly delete the account, but she started following boring accounts and leaving comments to trick the algorithm into making her news feed boring. And others are crowing about having more free time and more purpose in life. Could you go off social media cold turkey? Do you think it would make your life better? (Minneapolis Star Tribune)
