In high demand on Hawaii's Big Island: respiratory masks. There's a shortage and people are scrambling to get them. One small thing, though: The government says that those masks don't work. They offer no real protection and might even be worse than no mask, since they give a false sense of security. You're better off staying indoors or getting as far away as practical from the volcanic gunk in the air.
