Hertz is more expensive than other car rental agencies, but what you get for that extra expense is arrested for Grand Theft Auto, if you're unlucky enough to end up with a car they mistakenly report as stolen. Customers have had their paid-for cars impounded, and at least one was thrown in jail for 12 days for "stealing" a car that wasn't stolen and that she'd already turned in. This has happened more than once. And Hertz has refused to drop charges in some cases even when the accused clearly did not steal anything. Now, that's customer service. (WPVI-TV/Philadelphia)
