Being Poor Shouldn't Bar You From Modern Life
-
It's a talking point for some conservatives: If poor people are so poor, how do so many have satellite TV dishes? The explanation isn't as cut-and-dried as the critics would have you think. Some of those dishes in poor neighborhoods aren't hooked up; they're vestiges of times the residents had enough money to subscribe. In other cases, satellite is cheaper than cable, and you can't blame a family for wanting/needing TV service; poverty shouldn't prevent people from accessing modern communication.
