Bringing Pizza Should At Least Buy You A Temporary Exception
-
Oh, come on: A pizza delivery guy showed up to deliver to a U.S. Army base in Brooklyn last week. When he arrived at the base and showed his ID, it wasn't enough; they wanted a driver's license, which, like many New Yorkers, he did not have, and so they did an actual background check on him, determined he's an undocumented immigrant with an open deportation order on him, and took him into custody for deportation. He's on track to be deported to Ecuador next week. He'd delivered to that base before, without incident. He's not a "bad hombre," in Trumpian terms; not otherwise a criminal, working hard, has a family, had applied for a green card as the spouse of a U.S. citizen. Oh, and the people at the base were happy to accept the food he was delivering. (New York Times)
