You Can Run AND You Can Hide, But Not Always Forever
-
Here's another story where someone deliberately disappeared, in this case an Air Force Captain with top secret security clearance who was sent to the Netherlands on a test mission in 1983 and never came back, or so they thought, and speculation was that he deserted, and was possibly working with the Soviets. Turns out he was depressed about being in the Air Force and came back took all his money out of the bank, and changed his identity; he's been living in California for the last 35 years. But they still don't know for sure if he simply deserted and came home or he fed information to the Soviets, or whether, if the latter, it led to the Challenger disaster or other incidents that some think may have involved sabotage. There might be a book and/or movie in this. Or it might be a boring story about a guy who walked away and hid. (Washington Post)
