Because We Don't Like To Think Of Ourselves As Food
-
The thing about the story of the woman in her cornfield who got swallowed by a python is that it fascinates and horrifies us and raises our concerns that it could happen to us even though this was in Indonesia and you're generally NOT going to encounter a python unless you're in an area of the world where they're native. (Hint: Not the U.S. Try Africa and Asia.) But we read about the woman being swallowed whole, head first, and her body, fully clothed, being cut out of the snake, and I guess we all think, man, that would be a horrible way to go... and then think it could happen in our own backyards.
