If The Last Thing You Hear Is Applause, You Did Good

Well, I suppose it's a good way to go if you're a performer, but it's what we say every time someone dies on stage, like the bassist in a Delaware cover band who finished the last song of his band's set, thanked the crowd, then collapsed backward into the amps and was gone. Yeah, he was doing what he loved, but it's still sad, and I wonder if you'd rather go with an audience or go in a little less public manner.
