You can suspect that someone spit in your food at a restaurant, but it's rare to have documentary evidence, as in the case of a patron at a Queens restaurant whose receipt listed a burger with cheddar, well done, toasted bread, "PLEASE SPIT IN IT TOO." The customer asked for a receipt and that's what he got. The waitress, confronted with this, walked away. The restaurant says it's unlikely the cook actually did spit in the burger, but, still, you'd be concerned if this was your receipt. The manager fired the waitress on the spot and comped the meal, but if you're holding a receipt with proof that, at the very least, the waitress planned to taint your food, would you be on the phone with your lawyer before you even reached the sidewalk?
