How frantically did some casinos and tracks move to install sports books once gambling was legalized in their states? One Atlantic City casino moved so fast -- opening a temporary facility before the real one was ready -- that they forgot that they can't get Phillies games on TV. See, they threw up a bunch of TV monitors with DirecTV service, but Phillies games in the local market are on a channel -- NBC Sports Philadelphia -- that is not available on satellite. If you're taking bets on sports in South Jersey, you kind of have to have the Philadelphia sports teams on the screens by the sports book. They say they'll have that fixed in a few days, but someone probably should have figured that out before they opened for business. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
