Like Driving On That Road Isn't Painful Enough
-
A guy driving on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn got impaled by a tree branch that fell off a dead tree, and the locals say they've been complaining to the city for years that this would happen and the city didn't do anything about it. The trees were killed when Hurricane Sandy sent salt water into the neighborhood, and branches have been falling ever since, but the city hasn't come out to cut them down. Why something so obvious and simple didn't get done is a way to talk about how bureaucracy can result in tragic outcomes. (The driver survived, but he'll be in the hospital and needing multiple surgeries for a while.) (New York Post)
