You Know What Happens To Those Who Cannot Remember The Past
-
This story of a man whose mother was killed in a workplace mass shooting in 1978 and who's, understandably, never gotten over it raises a point: We say after every incident, "never again," but we always forget. Always. And, lately, the news cycle moves so fast that we forget even something as recent as Parkland, and I think the media have already moved on from Annapolis. Meanwhile, the survivors are left abandoned, because when we say "never again," we lie. Some people forget, and others try to justify inaction ("there's nothing we can do"). And it happens again, and again, and again. (Providence Journal)
