Here's something you do: When you have a large, important task to perform, you will instead do a bunch of smaller tasks first. Example: You have to write a report by tomorrow, but you first pay some bills, feed the cat, take the trash out, respond to some emails and DMs, maybe grab a snack. Is that procrastination? Yeah. Is it your fault? Maybe not: It's what's called the urgency effect, and a recent study confirmed that your brain tells you to go take care of urgent tasks with short windows for completion rather than more important things with a less urgent deadline because it's instinct.
