The railings are there for your protection. That's true around here, where we have steep cliffs looming a hundred or more feet above the Pacific Ocean yet people insist on climbing over the rails and past warning signs to get a better look, and it's true at the Grand Canyon, where this guy climbed over a rail, lost his footing, and fell 500 feet to his death. How hard is it to resist going past the danger point? How hard is it to stay on the path? (That could be a metaphor for life in general, except that there's a difference between doing things in an unconventional way and endangering your life doing something stupid.) (Chicago Tribune)
