Aah, You Didn't Want To Drive Anyway

Everyone loves to hate the DMV, but in San Francisco, it's especially bad. How bad? It's so busy at the local DMV offices that you can't get an appointment. We're not just talking about a long wait. I mean that when you go online to make an appointment, which is pretty much a necessity given the massive queues at the DMV, the system says that there are none for the entire 90 day period they can book. You're told to go to some other office, and good luck with that. This is a function of a) too few workers, b) too little money, c) too short hours, and d) the "Real ID" thing where you have to go to the DMV to get a license that you can use to board a plane. The California DMV's overwhelmed. Someone tell people who aren't getting Real ID licenses that the local AAA offices can handle most of what they need with no lines. (San Francisco Chronicle)
