Some Of Us Just Weren't Cut Out To Do Manual Labor. Okay, We're Soft. And Proud Of It

This brief, sad item about a man who was working on his car (in the middle of the night!) when the car fell on him and crushed him reminds me of a topic: Do you do your own car repair work or let someone else do it for a fee? Because men are raised to think that letting AAA change your tire is a sin, and some people extend that to oil changes and spark plug replacement. I think there's a balance: I can and do change my own tires and add (but not change) oil, but beyond that, I let a pro do it. And if it's a flat tire on a busy road and I can't pull into a parking lot, I'll let AAA deal with the danger of getting hit by traffic. I don't feel the need to prove anything, and while I want to save money, sometimes it's better to just suck it up and pay someone else to do the job. (WPVI-TV/Philadelphia)
