Buy A Postcard And Stay Far Back From The Edge

Kaaterskill Falls in the Catskills is a scenic location, and many people want pictures there. Some of them die in the process. At least eight people have fallen to their deaths at the falls since 1992. The last four were either taking or posing for pictures. And even though people should know better and be more careful, Instagram popularity keeps bringing the selfie crowd out. The state is putting in new rules, signs, and railings in an attempt to make the spot safer for people who aren't paying enough attention, but that waterfall is hardly the only spot where people taking social media photos have met an unfortunate end. In fact, just this weekend, a Berkeley law student went missing and is presumed dead after slipping and falling while taking a picture at a waterfall in Oregon. People, no picture's worth your life.
