Let This Be A Teachable Moment For Everyone
-
The school board voted 4-1 to fire a teacher who was found drunk and passed out in the classroom during a class last January. The thing that sticks out is that it wasn't unanimous. That might be because the teacher's attorney argued for a suspension rather than a firing, and said he has an alcohol problem he's battling in an intensive program. But the attorney also argued that he wasn't as drunk as the breathalyzer said he was (four times the legal limit!) and that the vodka bottle he had in the classroom was merely "brought in from his car." Oh, well, in THAT case.... (WPLG-TV/Miami)
