If Movies Still Matter....
-
This is an article about a small town in Iowa, name of Webster City, where things have changed. The demographics are different, the older and whiter population is being supplanted by Latinx immigrants working at a nearby plant, and one of the last remnants of the old small-town Main Street America is the movie theater, once closed but now re-opened with second-run movies and a desire to make it a center of the community. Can the old-school single-screen downtown movie house survive and even make a difference in a small town in the streaming age? (Los Angeles Times)
