Because Air Travel Hasn't Gotten Uncomfortable Enough
-
You already know about those "basic economy" fares -- no frills, back of the plane, steerage. Alaska Airlines is joining Delta, United, and American in offering a "saver fare" that at least allows for seat selection and a carry-on (some of the other airlines don't do that), but you're going to get a middle seat and you'll board last. So, uncomfortable, might not get overhead bin space, way in the back, no changes or cancellations.... worth a few dollars of savings? Or are these fares really about the airlines being able to tout a low fare that nobody will ever want to buy? (Los Angeles Times)
