First Thing To Do Is To Post 'EARTHQUAKE!' On Twitter

Everything You Know Is Wrong: So you're in a building and you feel an earthquake. What should you do? WRONG! No, you SHOULDN'T stand in a doorway. Doorways are NOT the safest place in a quake. You're supposed to drop, cover, and hold on, according to the USGS as quoted in this slideshow about "earthquake myths," most of which are about San Francisco but all of which are timed for the Great American Shakeout on Thursday morning. I happen to live in earthquake country, I've felt several earthquakes (though I tend not to feel the ones everyone else does), and I'll admit that my reaction is more "huh, the house is shaking, must be a quake" without moving a muscle. That's probably not a good reaction. (SFGate.com)
