Because They Can (In Some States, At Least)
-
Hey, radio people, how does it feel to be a trend-setter? Because it turns out that non-competes are becoming more common, even being used to keep janitors and warehouse workers and sandwich makers from going to work for the competition. How is this legal? It's not, in some states, but it shouldn't be the case anywhere except maybe for employees who have such intricate and specialized knowledge of a company's trade secrets that there would be demonstrable harm in their going to work elsewhere. But doing it just because you don't want the competition -- that's why radio has 'em -- is so anti-worker that it's shameful. (Washington Post)
