You build a business. It grows and it succeeds. 52 years later, you really want to retire. No buyers step up. Do you close the business? In the case of a four-store chain of Twin Cities gift shops, the owner wants to wrap it up but says she'll close up shop, literally, if no buyer comes forth. But there IS another option: Give it to the employees. Why not? "Sell" the company to a trust for the current employees. Gotta beat putting them out on the street, unemployed.
