Nobody Has Patience Anymore

Okay, I know, I used to earn a living doing this kind of "journalism," but when I see articles like this one in which they lay out what we know so far about what'll be in "Toy Story 4," it reminds me of a question that nagged at me when I was responsible for finding out stuff about movies and TV shows well in advance of release: Why? Why do people WANT to have things spoiled for them? Can't they wait until the movie actually comes out? Is it better to know in advance or be surprised? We put insane demands on creators, wanting them to work faster and make what we want and tell us what's coming before it's even finished. Sometimes, the PR machine is churning out "first images from the set" and "teaser trailers" before the script's finished being revised. Why can't we wait until, in this case, next June?
