The Bar For Public Office Is Lower Than Ever
-
The Mayor of Hallandale Beach, Florida has apologized for making a joke that she would save money on the city's search for a new city manager because "Today, I'm half-Jewish." That's, um, anti-Semitic, actually. And she follows a mayor who last year showed up for a meeting slurring her words and being incoherent, and then got caught in an FBI sting for money laundering and campaign finance violations, and an acting mayor who mocked a colleague for making money from "sphincter bleaching." This city seems to have problems finding normal people to serve as mayor. (WPLG-TV/Miami)
