So That Didn't Go As Planned, If There Was A Plan
-
It cost New Jersey $21 million to build a very nice minor league ballpark in Camden. It's going to cost another $16 million to tear it down and redevelop it, just 17 years after it opened. There's nothing wrong with it, but there's no team. So it'll cost $1 million to tear it down and the city of Camden, which doesn't have a lot of money to begin with, and Rutgers-Camden, which is funded with tax dollars, will spend $15 million to convert the plot into athletic fields for the school's Division III programs. Remember these stories the next time your town talks about spending public money on a new stadium or arena. (NJ Advance Media/NJ.com)
