Standing Athwart History, Yelling 'Cash Accepted Here'
-
A bill that had been stalled in the New Jersey legislature is moving again, and it would ban brick-and-mortar retailers from going cashless. (Exceptions: Airport retailers and some parking facilities). Now, most of us use cards all the time, but not everyone can, especially poor people who don't even have bank accounts. You can understand why retailers wouldn't want to handle cash anymore, but you can also see why it would be a problem, and, yeah, it's strange to use a card to buy, say, a can of soda or a bag of chips.
