Everybody Gets A Stadium

The Texas Rangers hoodwinked Arlington into building them a new ballpark right next door to the current one, which is near the Cowboys' palace. So, they'll tear down the "old" Rangers park, right? Nope: It will remain standing and will serve as the home of Dallas-Fort Worth's XFL franchise. That should be interesting. They'll spend some money converting the baseball park for football, reducing capacity and reconfiguring the field. What happens to all that money when and if the XFL flops? And is it wise to have three large venues capable of hosting pro sports, concerts, and other events practically next door to each other? (Yes, I know, Philly has CBP-The Linc-WFC next to each other, but each one has a different purpose and one is a much smaller indoor arena.) (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
