It All Went Downhill When They Got Rid Of The Popcorn Machines

Because we've been here before, the question arising from the very CEO who's ridden the company downhill bidding to rescue Sears is: How the hell is that company still in business in the first place? This race was lost the moment Amazon saw an opportunity in online sales. Walmart responded in the proper manner, building its own online presence. Target responded by sprucing up stores and its very slightly upscale image, adding expanded food departments. Sears and Kmart rolled over. And Sears, with its catalog, was Amazon before Amazon was Amazon. Incredible. (Washington Post)
