Another Thing That Makes Telecommuting Seem So Right
-
This article is about the Bay Area but could apply wherever there's mass transit, and it's about what you have to do to get a parking permit at train stations. In one case, a woman hands over a paper bag with $2,220 cash to someone in an idling car, payment for a year's sublet of a parking space at a BART station. Otherwise, you're on a waiting list forever. It's the problem with a lot of train systems: They'd be great if there was someplace to put your car, but there isn't, so unless you live close to the station and can walk there, you either have to go to extreme measures to get one of the rare parking spots or take Ubers, which will add up to a lot.
