It's The 5-Second Rule, Not The 5-Day Rule

Because nobody seems totally clear on how long you can keep leftovers and eat them safely, let's note the case (from 2008, but it's in a medical journal now) of a Belgian man who died after eating five-day-old unrefrigerated pasta and sauce. You really need to throw your leftovers right into the fridge ASAP after cooking. Or throw them out. Five days unrefrigerated... I think we all know that's not a good idea. (WSVN-TV/Miami)
