Moral -- Don't Answer The Phone. Ever
-
An RV dealer in Lodi, CA is being swamped with calls because some scammers are using the dealership's phone number in its spoofed Caller ID. You would assume by now that people understand that robocallers and scammers spoof the Caller ID to hide the real number, and that the number showing up on your Caller ID is faked. You'd assume wrong. I've gotten angry calls from people who thought my number was a scammer number, and I've had to explain to them how this works. But I've been lucky, because it's been only a few calls. The RV dealer's business is being affected so much that it's asking customers to use email or Facebook rather than phone calls to reach it. And, so far, nobody -- not the phone carriers, not the FCC, nobody -- has come up with an answer for this problem. (KXTV/Sacramento)
