Add to the list of Things That Have Inexplicably Returned the revival of roller rinks, which this Philadelphia Inquirer article claims happened first on the West Coast and has spread east. First, I live on the West Coast and I don't know of any roller skating rinks anywhere around this entire region. Second, roller skating? Really? Is this something you wanted to see revived? What else from Ye Olden Days would you want to make a comeback? Also, from the article: "Philadelphia and South Jersey are known for skating backward; New York and North Jersey favor chain skating." This is news to me as a former resident of both areas, but, then again, I avoided roller skating like the plague when I was a kid. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
