Okay, here's a Dirty Public Thing story that really is pretty disturbing: New York's subway cars are often soiled by poop, pee, blood, and vomit, and crews charged with cleaning it up sometimes have to do so without hazmat gear. Worse, because the MTA abhors service interruptions (not delays, they have plenty of those), cleanups involve a quick wipe-up at the last stop on a line rather than taking the car to a yard for actual disinfection. So not read this story after eating. Or before eating. It's just disgusting. (New York Daily News)
