How Many Last Gasps Can There Be?

Maryland IS south of the Mason-Dixon Line, so maybe that explains... no, that's not an explanation for why Taneytown, MD is seriously considering, and its council supporting, a brand new and huge Confederate memorial that would honor those who fought for slavery and would give John Wilkes Booth equal prominence with Abraham Lincoln, all proposed by a pro-Confederacy sculptor who's been going from town to town to find one that'll let him build a both-sides monument and who was involved in the Gettysburg pro-Confederacy rally that was a precursor to Charlottesville. And it turns out that there are plenty of people in Taneytown who have no problem at all with slav... er, both sides. This is insane, but, again, welcome to 2019. (Washington Post)
