A new study says that among the most effective forms of exercise are the kind that isn't exercise. Wait, what? Yeah, the idea is that when you do stuff like run down the platform to catch a train at the last second, or you carry shopping bags up the stairs, or anything you do that leaves you gasping for breath a little counts as "high-intensity physical activity," little bursts of exercise that you don't think of as exercise. You're unwittingly doing interval training. Do it enough and it'll help keep you fit. Or at least fitter. (Quartzy)
