Seems Reasonable, But Maybe Don't Make Them Wear Dunce Caps

The man who invented the "time out" for disciplining kids still thinks it's a good idea, despite some critics saying it increases a child's sense of isolation and anxiety. He's 95 now, and, yes, someone actually invented the time out (or at least gave it a name and popularized it). He says it's a better alternative to what parents used to do, which was spank the kids. Is it still the way to fo? Or should parents, as some contend, sit down with the kids and explain why what they did was wrong? (Washington Post)
