Those "Back to the Future" self-lacing Nikes are suddenly failing to lace, because of a corrupted software update that... well, here's the thing. When you make simple things "smart" via Internet connection, it increases the risk that the thing will brick. "Smart cars," smart light switches, smart thermostats, smart everything can get dumb fast, but when you can't even wear your shoes because they won't tighten around your feet and you can't, you know, lace 'em yourselves, that's pretty pathetic. Maybe some things shouldn't be "smart." (Washington Post)
